Fancy being a Street Sweeper?

Tom Morello is no stranger to the music world. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and Audioslave were pushed by his outstanding riff writing. Always a bit political its no surprise that his latest project is fuelled by political lyrics.

Video of the Day!

Track: Angel's Son
Band: Sevendust
Album: Strait Up

The passing of Lynne Strait of the band Snot saw this song hit the radio waves big time. Although there are a couple of versions I personally prefer this one as it seems to have the most passion. A beautiful song and the video shows all those that were involved in making the tribute album 'Strait Up'.

Song of the Day!

Track: Rome wasn't built in a Day
Band: Morsheeba
Album: Fragments of Freedom

Chilled out infectious grooves, a stunning female voice and perfect for waking up to, this Morsheeba is bound to cheer up even the dullest of days.

Artist Focus: Chris Cornell

Growing up to Soundgarden in the early and mid 90's was a pleasure. I was probably a bit too young to fully understand what they were talking about and the level at which they were playing. As my appreciation for music grew and my understanding of song writing developed there was only one thought in my mind, Chris Cornell is a genius.

I would check who wrote what song and sure enough the Cornell written songs always had a greater effect on me than the collaborations.

Cornell couldve easily fallen off the face of the earth when his Timbaland cd came out. Fair enough, he wanted to experiment, but he lost more than he gained from it. All in all it wasnt a well calculated risk.

Temple of the Dog was a tribute to the late Mother Love Bone singer, Andrew Wood. The album itself is a classic. A must have for any classic rock fan.

Take a listen to 'Say Hello to Heaven'

Soundgarden had their biggest hit with the anthemic 'Black Hole Sun'. However, on an album filled with timeless classics (Superunknown) it is hard to pick a favourite. So here are two...

After the last Soundgarden studio album, Down on the Upside, Cornell released Euphoria Morning to good reviews and much of the album worthy of a listen or two at least.

The next big Cornell project came about when he was asked to play with former Rage Against the Machine band members. They named themselves Audioslave and released 3 albums, all with declining success but still able to attract huge live crowds.

He was exposed to new fans and followers thanks to 'You Know My Name' the song used for Daniel Craigs first James Bond movie. Followed by a beautiful take on Michael Jacksons 'Billie Jean' Cornell had cemented himself as a timeless artist.

Video of the Day!

Track: Do the Evolution

Great Song, Great Video. Please watch.

Song of the Day

Track: One Headlight
Band: The Wallflowers

Jacob Dylan may be famous for being Bob's son. But his band, The Wallflowers still enjoy cult status and a proud following of flower pickers mostly thanks to this monster hit.

Video of the Day!

Track: On A Rope
Band: Rocket from the Crypt
Album: Scream, Dracula, Scream!

Used to wake up to this song every day for a few months as there was a morning chart show. Spent years wondering where it went and bingo! Found it!

So, for a bit of ska punk with a sing a long chorus and a general feel good song...

Song of the Day

Ignorance used to be Bliss

Opeth have always been a band that Ive admired. Mikael Åkerfeldt is a supremely gifted songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. What I didnt know was that he had a Death Metal side project called Bloodbath, and its been going for a few years!

Check out this live footage from WACKEN - Mikael Åkerfeldt's vocals are superb.

Song of the Day!

Track: Moronic Collosus
Band: The Huanted
Album: Versus

Too many bands just dont match up to The Haunted.

Check em out

Video of the Day!

Track: I Wear My Skin
Band: One Minute Silence
Album: One Lie Fits All

Nu-Metal came, dominated, gave us a load of crap bands that are still about, whereas some of the more decent ones broke up. One Minute Silence falls into the 'decent' category simply for their more outspoken lyrics and super tight backline.

Heres a song off their last studio effort.

How do you feel about Big Elves?

In this case, just one, plural not required. Big Elf were mentioned one uncharacteristic drunken night at a jam session and months later I remembered and checked them out.

If you like 60's rock with some better distortion, nice melodies and just good ol' driving music. Then this is a band you seriously need to check out.
